Nationwide there is a serious shortage of well-qualified secondary STEM educators and a lack of diversity among the teaching population as a whole. Through the support of the NSF Robert Noyce STEM Teacher Scholarship and Stipends Program (NSF 2151027) Metropolitan State University of Denver, a leader in the preparation of teachers and education of underrepresented students in Colorado, provides equitable STEM teaching and learning through innovative curricula and comprehensive support services to recruit and prepare STEM majors to teach in grades 7-12.

U۰R STEM focuses on increasing both the number and diversity of secondary STEM educators through the scholarship program. Providing scholars with transformative pre-service clinical experiences and in-service educator professional development, tailored recruitment, and retention to graduation of diverse students to STEM and STEM teaching. Through multiple pathways, the program attracts and is designed to prepare educators to meet the needs of metro Denver and Colorado.
